Payne's Restaurant in Centreville, VA Closed

For those of you who are familiar with Payne's Restaurant in Centreville, VA area, it is apparently closed now! We rode by the area recently and noticed it.

It was kinda a "greasy spoon" place for locals to eat breakfast and other meals. He was in business for over 30 years from what I heard. Since they have demolished some old buildings around Payne's, my guess the owners closed because of this or retired.

Oh, well--

  1. I saw it was closed when I drove by recently. It was always a dependable place for breakfast and I will miss it. I suspect the police in the area will miss it as well, since I never ate breakfast when there weren't at least a few police eating there too!

    1. Truly one of the most horrible restaurants I've ever eaten at. From the top down .. the owner, wait staff, cold food, yucky coffee ... so I can't say I'm sorry to see them go. Anything would be better than eating at Payne's. I mean seriously, I ordered corned beef hash once and heard them open the can and plop it on my (paper) plate. They didn't even heat it up!! and they got annoyed at me when I sent it back to be cooked. Fare-thee-well and good riddance, I say.
