We had the unpleasant experience of being put on the clock at the Atlantic Grill last night. We did arrive 10 minutes late - could not get a cab. But then we sat down and moved along at what seemed like a "normal" pace. There were occasional long waits for the waiter. About half way through they started sending waves of hostesses making updates on their note pads. They were poor actresses if they were trying to be subtle. They would raise their eyebrows and then scribble notes. It was embarrassing when our guests became aware of it.

We have been going there for years and, as noted frequently on this site, the food is pretty good. We even used to go to the previous restaurant at this site (Jim McMullens).

We eat out virtually every night, but would think twice now about going back there. But I guess if we were truly that slow, they probably do not want us back either. Maybe we can find another restaurant.

What do you suppose the hostesses were writing? I've never seen anything like this. It doesn't sound pleasant at all.

I think they were just trying to intimidate us into leaving. We regretted ordering dessert. Again, we do not think we were unusually slow and a good part of our wait was the waiter. Not to say that he was not nice. He was.

We absolutely felt rushed. They have a well-oiled operation and it is one of the things they do to turn tables.

You're absolutely right.

If you're spending that kind of money they owe you a *minimum* of 2 hours, without any rushing at all. I'd write to the manager and politely register a complaint.
