solo dining in Auburn, MA

I'm staying in Auburn, MA for one night (business) and I'm looking for a good place to get dinner by myself. I'd prefer to sit at a bar where I can get a decent meal and a few drinks. Any suggestions?

I second invino's recs all around -- come visit New England's second largest city! You will be able to find any of those places easily through a search, but note two Halloween-induced typos: Armsby Abbey and the Boynton.

Just had lunch at the Sole Proprietor. It was ok..

Auburn is chain city (I live there, unfortunately). I'd make the 10 minute drive to Worcester. There are lots of good meals/bar crowds at places like:

      Bocado- Tapas
111 Chophouse- Steak, great wine list
Armsy Abbey- American w/ local ingredients
Boyton- better than average bar food
      The Sole Proprietor- Seafood
      Mezcal- Mexican fusion
      Via- Italian

I was wondering when you would chime in:)

Just curious - what made you move there?

Also, I agree with your suggestions. If the OP doesn't want to drive to Worcester, there's always the Piccadilly Pub. "insert sarcasm" It IS ok, after all.

I recommend Brew City on Shrewsbury St, Worcester. Nice bar, food has always been good, and 40 beers on tap!

We moved to be nearer our jobs. We also found an unbelievable house at an unbelievable price.

I can't hate on the Pic- I cooked there when I was 18. They also have realllllly strong drinks. Also, right nearby is Heritage Coffee Shop, which has better-than-average dineresque breakfast.

EDIT: Armsby Abbey and The Boynton. Darn typos.

I'm a vegetarian, so I haven't eaten there personally, but everything I've heard and read hasn't been good.
