Need restaurant recommendation within 15 minutes of Coxwell & O'Connor.

I am looking for a restaurant within a 15 minutes drive of Coxwell & O'Connor area for dinner tonight.

Something along Globe Bistro lines, love that restaurant but have been there 4 times in the last month so looking for something different.

Lolita's Lust or Batifole are in that ballpark.

While Dukem, El Sol, and Bistro Camino can all be good, even very good, they don't have the polish of Globe Bistro. El Sol can be unbelievably slow, service wise, and the three of them are fairly casual.

Gio's has a fun vibe, and the food can be quite good (homestyle Italian), but it's loud. Very different atmosphere than GB.

I did enjoy the cosy, romantic atmosphere of Paul's Spaghetti, but I found the food just alright, not better than I make at home, and with the waiter's admission that their "homemade" cake was from a mix, I left feeling like it wasn't on my list of places to return to. It is definitely not in Globe Bistro's league.

Not sure timewise how it would work, but you could consider Citizen on Queen Street (in Leslieville); I've been a few times and enjoyed the food there.

Others could possibly chime in about Fare Bistro, Lil' Baci, or Baldini.

There are lots of great little restaurants in the area, but few Globe Bistros!!

Edward L is painful. heard so many horror stories about the service. friend of mine got into a verbal fight with either the manager or Edward himself a few years back.

been there 2 or 3 times and vowed to never return. not sure what the hype was all about.

oh, and we ate at Leslie Jones 6 months ago. was actually pretty good. similar price point as Gio Ranna's and Lolita's Lust. a little more intimate food was pretty good (not mindblowing).

ate at Gio Ranna's again a week ago. food was missing salt - all 4 of us concured. prices also have gone up quite a bit as of late. so its no longer a medium-end restaurant pricewise. i would venture to say that, without alcohol, its $30 a person (not including dessert)

I enjoyed a meal at Leslie Jones in the summer as well.

Going East, all on the North side of the Danforth: Quattro Ragazze, Melanies, Relish or Bistro Camino.

I'll pitch at a slightly cheaper level.

Paul's Spaghetti can be interesting. Food fairly good, atmosphere variable, driven by the diners there, service is variable. I have always had good service there but others have reported differently.

Bistro Camino is a similar price-point meal, but I do like the food there.

I live a 1 minute drive from your intersection.

            you consider Mambo beside Globe?
            been curious about trying it.
Dukem for Ethiopian, the Morrocan place beside Dukem is supposed to be good, El Sol...

Lolita's Lust is good but not cheap (well, neither is Globe)

              I've had a good experience at Lolita's Lust: http://www.lolitaslust.ca/.

Also enjoyed the food at Mambo next door to Globe (haven't been to Globe yet though).

That would be my choice after Globe also, can't go wrong there.
