Will be in Paris in a couple weeks. Have reservations for most nights, but wanted to try either Cafe Constant or Les Cocottes. I understand neither takes reservations. Hear Les C has long waits for dinner (probably go mid-week, just 2 of us in the 8:30 vicinity), is this true and what about Cafe C? I really don't want to hang around for 30+ minutes waiting... Thanks.

They are close to each other (50m) so you can try both which improves the odds. Maybe try a bit later after the peak service which is 8:30, they will advise you how long the wait is, and you can always have a drink whilst waiting. On my visit to the Cafe the wait was quite short as they are both quite fast turnover places. Also you could always pop into "Belotta Bellotta" (18, Rue Jean Nicot) for a plate of jamon iberico (they have four types) and a glass of sherry whilst you wait.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Used to live in the neighborhood so worst case we'll pop into somewhere else. Love Bellota - but perfection has it's price there! Actually I really like getting a sandwich at their shop in Gal Lafayette, but that's another topic..

I agree it is not cheap, we used to eat at the bar there and share a plate of mixed hams with a bottle of interesting Spanish white. It is a very basic/limited kitchen but OK for a snack type meal.

I've always gone to both as close to noon as possible and had no problem.
