Nirvana Fusion open in Fort Myers

Nirvana Fusion opened at former site of Metropolitan and Black Hawk on College . Online, the menu is inviting with Indian, Thai, Mediterranean and "American" dishes at good prices. I'll give them a while before I go visit. Phone l 277-9101. 9101 College Parkway, Fort Myers,

Anyone been there yet?

  1. are we looking at the same menu (""Indian, Thai, Mediterranean and "American" dishes"")?

a whole two dishes -- spring rolls (app) and fusion rice (sriracha makes it thai?) -- are not indian ("mediterranean"? looks like they just change up the kabob) ....
at least their menu is not so extensive that they couldn't possibly execute successfully so many dishes.

and...nirvana folks, you mean to use the word "palate" and not "palette."

next time i'm down in fort myers, i'll give it a try.

      Alkapal, good eye!

Yes, the online menu looks 98% Indian to me, too..
Figured I 'd give them the benefit of the doubt, as they chose to put "Fusion" in their name, even if it's clearly not in many of their dishes descriptions.

Fusion, confusion. Menu doesn't appeal to me at this time. That location is a dead restaurant location. Many have come and gone in this space. Many will come after. Last 2 have been ghastly. LMF

Nirvana has been open less than a month. I visited kind of unexpectedly with friends, and had a generally good visit. There were some glitches that happen within a first month, and they were handled well by my server. The owner came around to check on things. Good signs.
The table next to me had the same entree as me, Butter Chicken, and said it was too salty and overspiced. Mine was enjoyable. They said they couldn't eat it, and to take it off their bill, which was done. After they left, i lifted the lid, and saw they ate all the chicken and half the sauce. Should I trust them?!

Others who I trust have emailed me valid complaints and compliments. These will be conveyed to the owner for ongoing improvement. I like to see good places become very good with constructive criticism.

The builidng is large, and nicely partitioned. The dining room is elegantly simple and attractive . The separate bar is warm and welcoming. Live music is outdoors and one can sit among lush greenery. I really didn't see any fusion cuisine-that's a plus for me. . It's better than mediocre Passage to India and a touch better India Palace-I've not been back to IP in a year.
Their $10 brunch is said to be very good for the price.

I'd be happy to go back to Nirvana

what jerks! (ps, i like your nosiness-- er, *inquisitiveness*. i'd have done the same thing...and mr. alka would've been embarassed ...but he would've thought they were jerks, too. ;-)).

They are ironing out wrinkles and listening to suggestions. Hits outnumber misses. Pretty spot.

      1. I saw an ad for this place today and I plan to check it out. Fort Myers needs more Indian options, and I'm hoping this place is good and sticks around. India Palace is nice for lunch, and their lunch special is the best deal in town, but their dinner prices shoot through the roof for the same stuff, so I tend to avoid them unless it's the lunch special.

I've been to Nirvana several times over the past year and have enjoyed my food. I lilke dining there-whether eating outside in the tropical patio in season, in the lovely dining room, or having drinks at the very attractive wood and glass bar. It's really 4 separate areas worth checking out.

Best part-their live music is very good to excellent! I've gone there for "date night" and with friends.
I've seen nationally known rockers there for a minimal cover charge. Why? Many of these stars of first rate bands of the 60's -90's have family in the area, and perform as listed acts/players, or they come in and jam. I've met John Entwistle Band drummer Steve Luongo and his wife, and guitarist Mark Hitt who performied with John Entwistle and Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. You are 5 feet away form big name musicians, and seeing them on stage, this close is incredible!
For example, for this month, September, there's live music every Monday thru Saturday!

Best bet, get on their email list. and enjoy good Indian food in a lovely sestting.

            thanks for the report.

i think it is cool to be able to hear good musicians "unplugged."

but i still cannot get past the fact that this place does not have a tandoor. their menu says they "slow cook" the tandoori chicken. <sigh>

Nirvana Fusion is closed, some say it happened in February, 2011.
I enjoyed good food and wonderful entertainment.
              They will be missed.

that's sad to hear. i hate it when (almost) any business closes. so many hopes,
