If you can be more specific on what types of places you are looking for: budget, type of food, ambience, etc., you'll probably get some good recommendations. Suggest you track down a British holiday site for any recommendations, although most of us would tend to think it's a charmless place and tend only to visit for the day when we're staying on the Costa. Algeciras - just across the border into Spain, is an industrial town and has even less charm. Assuming you're driving from Gibraltar to Malaga and need food, I'd suggest a stop at Estepona which is probably the least touristy town along the coast (head for the main square, not the marina).
