Special lunch near St James

What would you recommend for a special lunch near St James? One of the party of four is a vegetarian, so I'm leaning towards Italian, but other cuisines could work. The other three eat most anything.

Kitchen a Trattoria does not seem to do lunch. The other celebrants did not like Kithchen a Bistro or Casa Rustica.

Cielo in Smithtown?

Suggestions would be appreciated.

  1. You mentioned Kitchen a Trattoria, but there's also Kitchen a Bistro, of course.

Sorry, didn't see your mention of it. Wow, they didn't like Kitchen a Bistro!

    1. Well, you nixed my two favorites, but maybe Bella Vita City Grill, on North Country Road, would work for you. I really like their eggplant dishes and chopped salad.

      1. This is a little out of left field, but when you said vegetarian, I thought of this place

The food is authentic and the people that work there couldn't be nicer. The one I go to is in Setauket, but basically borders on St James.

Alas, most of the group don't like Indian food.

Oh well, it was a long shot. My husband's family is the same way, I only go with friends.

        2. H2O or Chopshop in Smithtown

          1. How about Pentimento in Stony Brook village? They serve lunch and I've always found the food to be excellent -- http://www.pentimentorestaurant.net/

            1. Check out Zar's on Lake Avenue. They have Mideastern food, with a lot of vegetarian choices.
