Good place for casual lunch near 70th & Park Avenue ?

My wife & I will be in the city tomorrow morning for a Dr. appt. near 70th & Park, and I'm looking for any suggestions for lunch near there.

We enjoy casual, not fancy or formal, American food ,,,, ideally someplace 'fun' or 'interesting' (but not too eclectic) with good desserts a definite plus .... low to moderate priced.

For example just to give you an idea of what I have in mind, usually we just end up grabbing a sandwich at Lenny's on 1st between 68th & 69th which is OK and where we might end up otherwise. We also like Katz's Deli, Levain Bakery, Grimaldi's, etc. when in their respective parts of town. Personally, I'm a Barney Greengrass fan. My wife really enjoyed lunch a while back at Alice's Tea Cup. In New Haven, we eat at Louis' Lunch. In Portland, we liked American Flatbread and Silly's.

Will watch for suggestions ! Thank you.

Thanks 'goodhealthgourmet' very much for the last-minute recommendations :-)

I ended up parking the car in a garage at 70th & 3rd Ave, so after the appt. we went to lunch at J G Melon's.

By then it was about 1 PM so it was not too busy and we didn't have to wait for a table. My wife had the cheeseburger, and I had the grilled chicken sandwich. We debated on the cottage fries which looked good but decided to save room for dessert..... glad we did since we split a piece of the chocolate chip cake. Our food was very good in all respects, and we had a great waitress. All in all, a nice lunch and just the kind of establishment I had in mind :-)

By the way, I'd been to Sarabeth's UWS on Amsterdam Ave. a couple of times in the past with some business associates, but didn't realize they also had a cafe' at the Whitney. We'll have to give that a try the next time we go to an exhibition at the museum.

      Thanks again !!
