Spicy Pumpkin Macaron & Pumcho @ Feel Good Bakery in Alameda

Melanie Wong Oct 27, 2009 10:50 AM

Last week I wandered into the marketplace in Alameda for something else, but of course, had to stop at the bakery counter. Feel Good was featuring several seasonal pumpkin treats. I've liked the macarons here quite a bit for the silky, well-flavored buttercream. The spicy pumpkin one delivered on this and more with a softish, chewy cookie texture and light spicing. The pumcho bread, an oversize pumpkin muffin studded generously with chunks of very good bittersweet chocolate, was even better. 'Tis the season to enjoy all things pumpkin.

I'll have to check out that macaron! They have the pumcho year-round -- it's one of their specialties.

Finally got around to trying the pumpkin spice macaron. Wow. Delicious! I almost swooned when I bit into it.

i went to the JLS farmers market today. Unfortunately, Feel Good didnt have their pumpkin macarons there. The pumcho is something they sell more or less year round. I asked if they had any items they were selling for just the Nov/Dec season. They offered a pumpkin brioche for $2. It wasnt sweet, the pumpkin taste wasnt strong and was light and fluffy. Would recommend it for those who like those types of light breads/pastries.
