lunch in Rohnert Park area?

On Friday, I'm attending a morning event at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park. Would like to hit an interesting lunch spot (any type cuisine, flexible on pricing) fairly close to the University.

Any chowhound recommendations for the area?

  1. Right across the street is Shargra-La, Nepalese restaurant. They always have a good reasonable lunch special. The chicken spinach curry is heavenly. There's also a middle eastern place, Sahara, in the same shopping center. I know a lot of people who love it, but in my experience it's just been ok, not great. I have found the taqueria in that center to be fair to bad, but Taqueria del Sol Azteca, just a few blocks east on East Cotati, is excellent. A little further east on East Cotati in the Oliver's Market center is North Light books and cafe, which has excellent salads, sandwiches and soups, organic and local ingredients whenever possible. And Thai House, in the same center, also has some excellent lunch specials. Fu Zhou Chinese restaurant, also in that same center, is quite decent Chinese food, reasonable and huge lunch specials. I especially like the sesame chicken there. If you're willing to dirve a little further, into Cotati, Mai Vietnamese Cuisine, on Gravenstein Hwy just on the other side of the 101 Freeway, is just wonderful! So is Bear Korean, also on Gravenstein Hwy, just this side of the 101. The language barrier can be a little difficult there, but the food is great.

oh yea, and Friday at noon is Sonoma State's annual faculty and staff Halloween party in the Commons. It's open to anyone, but only faculty and staff can enter the costume contest. I understand that the commons won't be serving food that day, but you could come by and enjoy the show and then have lunch at any of the places above.
