Refreezing Beef Stock...?

CindyJ Oct 27, 2009 06:07 AM

Simple question: is it safe to refreeze (homemade) beef stock?

Bring it to a boil first.

If it was in the refrigerator during and after thawing, and not for a prolonged period, it does not need to be boiled before refreezing.

Good call Davwud. And further, I'd boil it after thawing too (although that's likely going to happen anyway...)

If it's been handled properly during the thaw, refreezing shouldn't be a problem. If you want to be safe, reboil and cool first.

Thanks! I think I have my answer. I've erred on the safe side and reboiled.
