I'm looking for a Cantonese style restaurant with a banquet area which can accommodate about 30 people for a family gathering. Hopefully east of Downtown because we will be meeting in Whittier. Great food and ample parking are on my wish list.

Thanks in advance

You are looking at practically close to 100 possibilities, maybe even more. What's your price point? Any specific dishes?

Reasonably priced with the usual Canto fare; Char shiu, Sweet and Sour, Homyu, Chow Fun,etc.

Oh, that changes everything. Old time Canto is rare and there is considerable disagreement as to whether any of the remaining places is any good. This thread pretty much discusses all the possibilities. Maybe Chinese Garden in Montebello.

For the kind of grub you are looking for -- i.e., old school, Americanized Chinese fare -- try either Yang Chow or Fu-Shing. Both in Pasadena.

Neither will knock your socks off food-wise, but it will provide you your quotient of char sui pork, sweet and sour [insert animal protein] and all the good time old-school Chinese fare your heart desires.
