since you used all caps, i will even things out and use all lowercase.
for office birthdays, i will occasionally get the request to pick up the cake from 99 ranch market in anaheim off euclid. the bakery within the chinese market has a very light cake and a whipped frosting that appeal to the various palates of our multicultural office. It's about $30 for 1/2 (or 1/4) sheet.

Don't know what you're looking for or what part of OC you're in, but Sweet and Saucy in Long Beach has some great baked goods. They've been open since (I think) mid-July, but Melody has been doing catering for at least a couple of years. Melody takes a lot of pride in her craft, and I can honestly say that her desserts are some of the most tasty and memorable I've had in a while. I haven't been since early August, but I'm confident that she still is as good as ever.

Don't know if you're in the Westminster area, but my favorite Vietnamese bakery is there. Song Long on Bolsa. They made my childhood birthday cakes. Their cakes are not overtly sweet, and to keep the cake layers moist, they use a simple syrup with a dash of rum that adds another layer of flavor. My favorite cake: white sponge cake, fresh strawberries and whipped cream filling, with their special buttercream frosting. Delish!

Zov's Bistro in Tustin makes wonderful cakes. I don't know for a fact that they would make a birthday cake, but I would imagine that they would. Their cakes and pastries are top-notch, so I would give them a ring.
