30th birthday party ideas?

zpincusroth Oct 26, 2009 04:11 PM

Hi all,

I'm looking for an idea for a unique, food related, LA area 30th birthday party. It would happen in November, for about 40 people, Ideally it would allows everyone to talk to a lot of people, especially people they don't already know. It can be anything from renting a room at a Korean BBQ restaurant, to a cheese tasting somewhere, to making your own pizza at the apartment to a trip to a fruit-picking farm. Would love to hear any thoughts you have.

You can always hire out a Chef's Inc., kind of place, like corporates do, and give them your favorite meal as a menu, and then have you & your friends prep & cook it, all the while socializing and sipping wine.

      What's your budget per person?

Definitely no more than $50 a person, and probably less than that. Preferably something where everyone pays for themselves.

If you are spending other people's money please make sure you know your audience and what they are comfortable spending. What about a cooking challenge....break your guests into teams, have each person bring an ingredient and you provide the recipe and the cooking gear (1 team gets a bbq, another a wok, a third a blender) the entire bday mean is prepared by your guests. Best in show gets a prize.
