CHINATOWN LOBSTER SPECIALS

I know of a couple places in Chinatown that have lobster special posted because its posted in english. Asian Garden has a triple lobster special for $22, i believe. Can anyone tell me of any hidden gems for lobster special in chinatown, since many of the specials are posted in Chinese. Thanks!

As a side note, I'm in California now and we just paid $13.99 a POUND for lobster in a restaurant, stir-fried. And the lobster was from Boston. There is something very wrong about flying from Boston to California to eat Boston lobster...but we did it anyway.

Great Taste is the real deal. No need to order anything else but noodles with vegetables, the lobster special can easily feed two people for about $23- a great deal. We liked the food there so much we went there 3 times during our recent visit to Boston. Their Chinese rice soup (congee) with fish is also tops.

I walked by Asian Garden yesterday, their lobster special was:
1 - $8.95
2 - $13.95
3 - $20.95

I don't know if you need to order anything else with this, but there was nothing on the sign indicating you did.

That is crazy cheap. Have you tried it? Jo Jo does such an amazing rendition that I have a hard time having it anywhere else.

Stopped by Jo Jo Taipei in Allston specifically to try this lobster dish, having heard about it right here. My wife and I are HUGE fans of the same dish at Ocean Wok in Hampton Beach, NH. Never had it anywhere else. Jo Jo's rendition is good, and cheap, but not AS good. The lobster was stuck to the inside of the shell on many pieces, and the sauce was a little too sweet. Nevertheless, quite enjoyed it!

FWIW, I called first to confirm that it was available, at 9pm on a Monday. Yes it was so we went! We were 1 of only 2 tables in the place.

New Golden Gate also has twin lobster @ $15.95. There isn't a restriction listed on their window but you might want to double check.

I always get it ginger scallion style and eat as much as we can and then take the rest home and enjoy the rest as a midnight snack. lol

Well, I picked up 3 lobsters at H-mart early last week for like $4.89 a pound.. they are cheap at the moment, so I assume restaurants can cut pricing as well.

Is there a catch? Do you have to order some other plates or can you just order only the lobster special?

some restaurants have restrictions such as: no carry out or"must order additional entrees to get the lobster deal.

Now that you mention it I have seen signs to that effect though I can't remember where.

Heck, twin lobsters, an order of Chinese broccoli, some rice. That sounds like dinner.

It's not that simple. You usaually have to order from the more expensive house special menu. Fried rice or steam rice and desert aren't on that menu.

That has NOT been my experience at MOST places that offer twin lobster deals. Jo Jo Taipei in Allston does one of the absolute best renditions I have ever had and does not have any ordering requirements that I know of. I have certainly ordered it just with an order of greens.

totally agree, in fact the last time i ordered this for myself at jojo i ended up tipping like 40%, as i felt i was stealing a bit.

i used to feel the same way at the vietnamese place that was in the space that is now taqueria el amigo. four of us would eat there until stuffed and the bill would be 25 usd. i would leave 50 and the chef would make me take money back.
