Ok, I'm contrary, but one of the best meals I've ever had was at North 44. The service was impecable and it was a romantic occasion. It was mid week and they even put together a special menu for us with no notice.
Granted it was a tad on the expensive side (over $500 if I recall plus tip) but it was worth it.›1 Reply-

defintiely Auberge...
My husband and I Had a small wedding.
We went to city hall and there were 13 people in total.
We had a lovely lunch at Canoe and by three oclock everyone was gone.
We had reservations at Auberge for dinner that night.
So it being our wedding day and all we decided to have the tasting menu paired with wines.
It was probably the best meal we have had in a restaurant in Toronto.
We went back for our anniversary the next year and it was just as good.
Probably my favourite restaurant in the city :)

Auberge again.
Much nicer experience all around and a great "winter room." Be sure to get a table by the fireplace...

re: MeXx
Auberge for certain...it is truly wonderful!
....First ( & last) time we went to North 44 we were seated right by the doors to the kitchen...couldn't enjoy the dinner for all the waitstaff doing the 'back n' forth' all night....Maybe we didn't fit the 'profile'!! In any case it was enough of a turnoff to not want to go back to North 44!
