In Town For U2 in Pasadena...Breakfast Suggestions?

Hello fellow Chowders...the wife and I are going to the U2 concert in Pasadena and sticking around and going to the Huntington Library the following day. Any suggestions for breakfast in that area? I'm not familiar with Pasadena and we're willing to drive a bit if it's relatively close. Not looking for anything fancy...just good ol' American or Mexican breakfast will do. Thanks!

For American, I'd suggest Mike and Anne's in South Pasadena. www.mikeandannes.com The previously mentioned Julienne is also a good choice. www.juliennetogo.com

For Mexican, it would be either the aforementioned Tonny's or Yahaira's Cafe. http://www.yahairascafe.com/index.html

Reviving this thread to ask for updates/specifics on South Pas breakfast. Mike and Anne's sounds good. Do you recall which menu items you enjoyed most? Is there likely to be a wait for a table on Saturday mid-morning? Any other South Pas specific recs out there? Holes in the wall and nothin-fancy-just-honest-tasty-grub greasy spoons included.

Pancakes were good at Mike & Anne's. And, yeah, there might be a crowd of sorts on Sat morning. Call and make a reservation if you want to be safe.

A bit further down the street on Mission St. (about 1/2 mile west of Mike & Anne's) is Heirloom Cafe, which is also a good choice for breakfast. It will be crowded here and no reservations are taken. Breakfast burros and sandwiches are good here, so are the housemade baked goods like their versons of Ding Dongs.

I second the recommendation for Mike & Anne's. They do a good job all-around with breakfast. They also have a pretty large patio if the weather is nice.

I recommend the challah French toast, lemon ricotta pancakes, and any omelette.

Um, I think the Huntington is closed on Mondays - go to Julienne and sit outside.

No, the Huntington is now closed on Tuesdays but Julienne is still a great rec. I love the creme brule french toast!

Thanks to all and I apologize for using the wrong terminology. All of the suggestions sound great and I can see that I'll have to make a return trip to try them all. Thanks again!

Marston's has great breakfast items, particularly the corn flake crusted french toast and the omelets,

Tonny's on the west corner of Orange Grove at Lake Ave. Great for both Mexican and traditional breakfast! It is a little place with a lot of heart. Great carnitas. Hand made corn tortillas.

Tonny's is outstanding. The chile verde is not to be missed.

The best breakfast burrito is at Lucky Boy on Arroyo in Pasadena.
