Reno: ISO Thanksgiving dinner, no buffet, "ambiance" for elderly MIL, late afternoon
My 89 y.o. MIL has just returned home after a month in a rehab center following a mild stroke. She's in good shape but neither she nor we have the interest or energy to cook the big meal. None of us like buffets so that's totally out. Also she, not being a CH, will take "ambiance" and lighting over food any day. (She loathed Beto's when we took here there.) She does wants the traditional meal. Her preference is to have dinner around 5:00pm. Does anyone have any recs? I'll also be doing other searches but CH is always my go-to. Thanks all.
Edit: Our first choice would not be a casino. If all else fails, perhaps.

Would you be willing to drive up to Incline...Hyatt has T-day dinner in the Lone Eagle - separate building from the Casino.

We live at the North Shore and love Lone Eagle Grille and I'm sure their Thanksgiving dinner is great. But it's logistically difficult to go there with MIL. Our house has too many stairs for her. So we'll take the dogs with us and spend the night after dinner. But thanks for future reference.

Have you considered Washoe Grill?

Hey, enbell. Long time.... Excellent suggestion. I'll check it out. She's lobbying for Beaujolais Bistro and I'll call them. But I just can't imagine a French restaurant downtown doing TD dinner.

It has been, I know! How was Rio? How is your MIL recoup-ing? You never know about Beaujolais though - I mean it *is* Reno :)

We had a most memorable and delish Thanksgiving dinner a few years back at The Sterling Restaurant at Silver Legacy.

Not a buffet? I'll check it out. I realized that casinos don't have to be eliminated if it's not a buffet. Thanks, melly.

FYI, Beaujolais Bistro is NOT open that day.
Edit: Neither is Johnny's Italian Restorante on 4th.

Another update: Stone House Cafe isn't open for Thanksgiving either.
I'm think maybe the Siena since it's more hotel and restaurant and less a casino scene. Will also call Washoe Grill.

WG shold be open as they have done specials in the past on Thanksgiving. I know Charlie Palmer is also in a casino so I don't know of the ambiance, but have you consided that? Good luck, the odds are stacking up against you!

Tried to call WG earlier today and will try after they open. The Siena is doing dinner, 4 course with 3 choices of entree for $40. Charlie Palmer is doing dinner with free range turkey and good sounding sides and dessert. No price give so I sent them an email. Thanks, enbell. Hope you're doing well.

I owe ya! Finally remembered to call Washoe Grille when they were open :) They ARE doing a three course, prix fixe dinner for $25. Hurray. Another coup is that we were at Costco yesterday and for $80 we bought two $50 gift cards. So we save MORE money. And they begin serving at 5pm so we can accommodate MIL with that also. Thank you SO much, enbell.
I'll report back.
