A real unique restaurant?
Hello, I'm going to be in new york in early November and looking for a special place to eat with the family. I searched and didn't find anything that intrigued me that much.
So I'm looking for a really unique place that blows other restaurants away. Is there a place that has an aquarium surrounding the dining? Perhaps a rooftop restaurant? I've heard of the Marriot Marquis' revolving restaurant but it doesn't sound that great. By the way the restaurant's cuisine doesn't really matter as long as it has a real unique dining experience.
Are you looking for good food with a unique atmosphere/experience to go along with it, or are you looking for a unique atmosphere where the food doesn't really matter?

Maybe Buddakan? Good atmosphere and decent food. Are you looking for something trendy or more formal?
I usually find more recs for food than decor here but you might get some good advice. Have a good trip.

Asiate, the spectacular restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, is perhaps the singular restaurant you're looking for. Breathtaking views of Central Park from 35 floors up. Superb food. Understated - certainly not Times Square. It will cost you, however. But not as much as many other exceptional NYC Restaurants.

Another one: The Water Club, on the East River at 34th Street. Dine with a floor-to-ceiling window view of the water, the bridges, the Brooklyn skyline (and boats). You're dining in a converted motor yacht that's still in the water. The nautical decor is clubby and classy. There's a working fireplace in the bar, surrounded by leather seating areas.
The cool thing about this place is that although dinner is on the expensive side, lunch is a bargain, which includes a lobster with app, dessert and potato for $32.
