Spent a week on the east side of the Sierras.
Monday night, Mogul in downtown Mammoth Lakes was our choice. I had an excellent rack of lamb and my companions had different steaks and were quite pleased with the quality and the service.
Lunch was at Mahogany Smoked Meats--outstanding sandwiches and you can s pend the months food budget on smoked meat to take with you.... the jerky and smoked bacon is some of the best anywhere.
Tuesday we were at Imperial Chinese. I had the Lobster Sichuan which was great--plenty of lobster and nicely presented in a ring of crisp broccoli. The egg rols were good with a flaky crust. The other dishes had by my companions were good, and their wine list was good and inexpensive.
Wednesday was at Las Palmas Mexican, and it was passable.... Skip the refried and rice. The tamales were fair, but the chili rellenos were pretty good. The beer was cold and was the most inexpensive meal of the week.
Lunch on Thursday was at Raymond's Deli---Excellent sandwiches and an interesting place to visit....
Thursday dinner was at Whiskey Creek, and the steaks and meatloaf were enjoyed by all. They have a good wine list with some pretty good inexpensive wines.
On the way home on Friday, a stop for lunch at the Whoa Nellie Deli at the Mobil station at 395 and 120, is always a treat--the fish tacos are to die for.......
So little time, so many places.....
