The buffets in amish country on a whole are good, Shady Maple, good buffet, Millers Good buffet, Plain and Fancy good Buffet, But there is 1 buffet that I would not go to again,it is called Old Country Buffet on FruitvillePike, their food was cold, Fried Chicken was not cooked
properly you could see the bone of the chicken it was RED, complained to the Manager
he said he was sorry, he did not even offer me my money back. The variety of the main entrees was 3 chicken, 2 fish and 1 beef and pizza on a scale of 0-10 zero being bad, I would rate this buffet a a Big Fat 0

While in my opinion, no buffets in Lancaster Co. are good, Old Country Buffet is a chain restaurant, and should really not be grouped with the ones on or near the Rt. 30 tourist attractions that are attempting to serve PA Dutch food to visitors. I honestly don't know why anyone would go to an Old Country Buffet in Lancaster on anywhere, but they are still in business, so they must be conning people out of their money on a regular basis.

None are gourmet-quality, but we lived in Lancaster for nearly 11 years and favored Shady Maple in East Earl. In fact, we are taking my teen-aged son and a half-dozen friends there for breakfast Saturday.

I've been to most of them, and I think Miller's is the best. They have decent breads, corn and chicken soup, fried chicken and peel and eat shrimp. The prime rib isn't bad either.

My husband is partial to Shady Maple just b/c of the sheer volume and variety. It's definitely an experience. More of the locals eat at Shady, even Mennonites. I only see tourists at Miller's.

We ended up going to Shady Maple smorgasborg. Wow, that's a ton of food! We enjoyed the scrapple quite a bit. I liked the roast beef, and we both through the fried chicken was surprisingly juicy for a buffet place. I also liked the chili a lot. Not great food, but definitely above average and you definitely can't beat the quantity.

Thanks for the suggestions.
