I think "books" was the password for the library, which is separate from the speakeasy part where a reservation will get you the password of the night and a guarantee of a seat. Why not call and try for a reservation?

The same owners also opened Rickhouse downtown, and the cocktails are the same quality at half the price. Bartenders rotate between Bourbon and Branch and Rickhouse.

Both places are on my list. I'm only in town for three nights, though. Do you think only one is "necessary" since they are so similar? Rickhouse sounds great without the hastle.

The drinks are similar, but the vibe is definitely not.

If you're not going to make reservations, then go to Rickenhouse. The Library and Rickenhouse are both noisy, crowded, buzzing places to be.

If you can plan ahead enough to commit to a time, then Bourbon and Branch is a whole different ambiance. It's more of a dining room experience: you sit down, complimentary mini cocktails are brought out, you order off a very extensive menu, and the whole experience is sedate and relaxed.

Depends what you're looking for.
