I am planning a day trip from Newport over to Westport to the Winery and Buzzards Bay Brewery for my boyfriend's birthday. Any suggestions on a good spot to have a nice lunch? Sandwiches , even to-go for a picnic, are fine, but looking for something higher quality than diner food.

Also, would love any other recommendations in this area....even New Bedford? Thanks!

I would recommend Marguerites in Westport. Cute casual place with great job on the seafood and chowders. Not open on Sundays, though. and no credit cards (cash or check)

Sandwiches/picnic option (and baked goods) - Go to Partner's on Main road. From the winery, go back across 88, and take a right onto Main road. It will be on your left side, not very far up.

We always get sandwiches from here on the way to Horseneck.
