What is a "Dairy Drink"?

This is something found at the HEB in Austin Texas. Why not just drink milk, in its dazzling varieties?

I'm thinking it is the liquid equivalent of "cheese food"
Can't call it milk because of too many additives and too little milk solids.

      it's a dairy-esque drinkable beverage substance.

i think here in some areas if you put additives in milk (eg: cocoa and sugar) you can no longer call it milk, so, you call it a dairy drink.

It's a sad comment on a lot of things, but presumably people who buy it buy it because it's "about half the price of milk." No?
