Help for dinner 7th/Metro tomorrow Thursday

I got a last minute call to meet a friend tomorrow who's flying in for the day. I take the commuter bus home from 7th/Metro station and the last one is at 6:30 so I need a nice resturant within a block's walk. The only things I know of is Morton's (a little more formal that I want) across the road and Roy's down tthe way. Any other suggestions. Any cuisine is fine. We are big into sharing appetizers and small plates rather that a 20 ouce steak.

    1. Bottega Louie on 7th and Grand is relatively close to the 7th/Metro. I've been there a couple times and thought it was OK. Nothing earth shattering, but decent Italian food. It is quite a scene at night and great for people watching but definitely on the loud side. They have lots of sides you can share to make a meal out of. Do a CH search for Bottega Louie for more detailed reviews

after my experience at botega louie, i would absolutely NOT feel confident that jonesstonehave could get out of there on time unless dinner started at 4pm or so.

Bottega Louie's service is, shall we say, relaxed...

when the waiter delivering your pizza is wandering around for 13 minutes with pizza in hand trying to figure out what table the pizza should be going to.. .
follow that with one of the courses delivered a full 20 minutes after everything else on the table has been cleared, and in order to get it delivered at all you had to ask your waitress TWICE to have it tracked down. . . .

i take it back. to safely get on a 6:30 train, dinner better start around 3:30pm. . .

I've actually had very attentive service the times I've been, but the food has been kind of meh, for the most part...

                2. Engine co 28 is just around the corner.

I second engine company 28. I've had dinner there several times before Kings games and have always enjoyed their food.

                      • You could sit at the bar at Drago Centro and order off the bar menu or Chaya is right there as well.

Second Drago Centro & Chaya Downtown. I like the food at Chaya a tad better.

                            • Zucca is another decent italian place about a block away on Figueroa

George's Greek might work for you. Right at 7th Fig food court, and they should be open until 7pm.
Food is good and you won't be waiting for it.
