First time to NYC - 30th Birthday!

atticaster Oct 21, 2009 09:46 AM

My boyfriend and I are headed to NYC for a week in December to celebrate my 30th birthday! I've never been and I'm so excited about the food. We had plans to check out Babbo and the Little Owl, but beyond that, we're stuck. I'm feeling overwhelmed. We don't have much as far as budget restrictions, but he's not too into wearing a jacket to dinner. Any suggestions for breakfast, lunch and dinner would be great!

How fun, I am heading there this weekend to celebrate my 30th :-) I am also stuck on a birthday spot, but I can tell you my favorite lunch spot, Pearl Oyster Bar. I also love Otto for a casual Italian meal. Have a great time!

Much too broad a question. This is a city with thousands of restaurants, price points, ethnicities, styles of dining. Please provide more details so that you can get helpful reponses. You also might want to first dive in and read some posts and do some searches to get some ideas.

thanks chowgal...i figured i asked too broad of a question. see, i'm overwhelmed!!

as far as cuisines we like: thai, japanese, indian, italian, american, french...you name it. we're not vegetarians and we have no allergies.

we like intimate-feeling restaurants and attentive service. i don't know if this would make a difference, but we're not average people. he's an artist and i'm a foodie (well, who isn't?). we want great experiences, but we also want good food. we love diners, delis and street food.

For an intimate delicious dinner in a great hood for drinks before or after make a res at Apizz. Very warm and intimate atmosphere, excellent italian food and tons of spots to hit before and after dinner.
