Looking for recommendations for great bakeries in and around Charleston (pastries, cupcakes, pies, bread).

Thanks in advance,

  1. I like Saffron. They serve nice meals as well.
Cupcake gets good reviews, but I haven't been.

My girls and I love Cupcake! Another bakery we like for breakfast or mid-morning snack is Normandy over in Windermere. Here's a link to an article from City Paper:

    2. Baked, which is the second (and only other) location of the Brooklyn bakery, is great, but they don't sell bread. I'm also looking forward to trying Wild Flour, which is also downtown. Again, don't think it sells bread, but pastries and sweets.

Baked also serves the best iced cafe latte I have ever had.

        (and really good cupcakes too!)

      2. Wild Flour on Spring St is my favorite bakery. Muffins, coffee cake, cupcakes, scones, and cookies are some of the best (if not the best) i've ever had. And the prices are very reasonable as well. It's my favorite new spot in town.

Mmmmm! Cupcake! Mmmmmm....cookies and cream cupcakes, red velvet cupcakes, key lime cupcakes.....mmmmmmmm! (Can you tell I'm a fan?!)

        2. Sugar Bakeshop, 59 1/2 Cannon Street is just a block away from upper King Street . It's unique, a small batch bakery which doesn't open till 11 a.m., 12 on Saturday. Try their cupcakes, Lady Baltimore (on Thursday or by special order), Red Velvet iced to order, cookies, tarts and cakes, all superb! They have a website, and have received raves from the likes of Bon Appetit and Girlfriend Getaways magazines.
