Bet-R used to have them--they were just closed for a movie shoot so who knows wha tis in stock. my only other guess would be to call Calandro's and ask them (a) if they have them or (b) who does have them. I cannot imagine that they'd be terribly hard to find.

That's been my impression---the Winn Dixie near LSU on Burbank had all the goodies years ago and then they changed and did not and then they did again. Tripe and kidney can be hard to find in BR but it is available from time to time. And, as I say, I have tried to get them for parties occasionally and had to look a couple of spots before finding them..now I just load up in new Orleans beforehand. Walmart might very well have them..I don;t see why not.

I am not looking for grocery store hocks unless there is a company that distributes great ones. I ended up buying a grocery store hock because I couldn't find a good meat market. In my opinion, the hocks you use make a huge difference in the beans. We have a great meat market or pig farm really, in Mississippi where I get my hocks and I was thinking there has to be some great place in Baton Rouge. Is Matherne's or Bet-R what I am looking for?

That is an interesting question...off the tope of my head, I'd think that Bet-R etc use what they can get from Associated Grocers and maybe (?) from redi Fresh. You could check with Babineau's over in Henderson/Cecelia..and maybe Bergeron's in Port Allen, which of course is closer to you. Other than that you might have to run to French Settlement
