Good Italian restaurants - anywhere in manhattan

I'm looking for a really good place - can be a joint or a high class place. Tried getting into Babbo but they don't have availability until mid Nov. I"m looking for Oct. 26 or 27.
Been to many places all over town - don't want to go to Lupa, or Felidia, or Convivio; I live near Le Zie and eat there all the time. I'm open to suggestions.
Anyone know anything about "Peasant"? Just saw it on some list - don't know anything about it.

you might also want to peruse the board for discussions about Scarpetta, Locanda Verde, A Voce, Alto...

You're right - I did not do my homework before posting. No availability at Scarpetta - was thinking of Locanda Verde.
      Thanks.

Haven't been to Ecco in years. Last time, and this was years ago - everything was so oversalted, it was hard to finish my meal - or so I remember. But again - that was many years ago. Interesting thought - thanks.

      2. Aurora and Pepolino are both outstanding. Peasant is not.

        1. Da Andrea on 13th is fantastic and very affordable. They have a shrimp & salmon pesto cavatelli that's out of this world.

Also Crispo is nice with a beautiful atmosphere. I haven't been but I live down the street from Bianca's and everyone says its great.

          1. We like I Trulli on E 27th.
