Looking for Thai/ and Chinese restaurants near wilton, Ct
I am looking for a traditional thai restaurant near wilton. Am also looking for a good chinese restaurant other than Village Gourmet in Norwalk. I am looking for basic new york type chinese restaurant....wonton soup, fried rice, lo mein....not fancy fusion type chinese.
Thai Pearl in Ridgefield is really good, with an extensive menu which includes a very good explaination of different Thai regional cuisines s... giving examples from the menu which fit within each category. Ambience is pleasant. Service is efficient and classicly Thai friendly.. You can ask to eat quickly or you can choose to take all the time you want to enjoy without anyone prompting you to leave. Quality of food is excellent. Prices are reasonable. Added bonus is BYOB which makes this restaurant a very good value proposition. Location is partially hidden from the road... you will find it in the group of shops next to Southwest Cafe.
Thai Spice is located on Main Street in Norwalk, just south of the Merrtitt Parkway, in a srip mall which is somewhat below street level. Menu is not as extensive as Thai Pearl. Austere (i.e., almost no) ambience. Quality and presentation of food is very good. Service is good. Thai Spice is licensed and has a smallish selection of wines and beers, but they also allow BYOB with a very reasonable corkage fee.

113 Danbury Rd Ste 11, Ridgefield, CT 06877
jfood has eaten in two cinese and one thai for lunch so he gives this with a caveat.
Thai - the one jfood had lunch is located just south of the Merritt on Main Street just south of the first gas station on the right.
Chinese - Directly across from the Thai place is a chinese named Wild Rice. The other Chinese is in the same strip mall on main street but north of the DMV just past Walmart on the right. Same mini-mall as Letieza's pizza and homemade pies.
Although it falls somewhere between basic new york type chinese and fancy fusion type chinese, you might try East in Georgetown (route 7 at the Caraluzzi's parking lot). There are items on their menu that should fit what you're looking for (like the ones you mentioned), even though there are others (e.g. fajita duck asian style) that might not. They also have some thai or thai-influenced dishes, including pad thai, on the menu.
Bangkok Thai, in Danbury, is the closest thing to a traditional thai restaurant near Wilton. On the Westport/Southport border you could also try Pho Mekong which is a Vietnamese-Thai combo.
New Haven has both traditional Thai and Chinese...if you're willing to travel.
