ISO Cinnamon Ice Cream

Does anyone know where in southern Chester County I might be able to find cinnamon ice cream? It'd be perfect with a dessert I'm planning for dinner on Saturday. Thanks!

  1. Would Haagen Dazs new brown sugar (5 ingredients) work?

I was going to suggest Milky Way Farms on 113 in Chester Springs, but it looks like they only have apple cinnamon ice cream.

If you have an ice cream maker, there's a great recipe on the Food Network website for cinnamon ice cream.

    2. At the risk of this being more of a "home cooking board" post, you can mix cinnamon into vanilla ice cream and voila.

That would mean melting the ice cream, blending in the cinnamon and re-freezing it. I actually thought about that myself but wondered if the twice-frozen ice cream would suffer somehow. Maybe THAT'S a question for the Home Cooking board.

Could you mix it in at service?

You don't have to melt it, just get it softish (like as soft as it is by the time you get it home). It works for me, anyway..

        2. Probably not what you are looking for but Blue Bunny's cinnamon ice cream is pretty tasty.....

I Googled "cinnamon ice cream" and found Blue Bunny's. So I emailed them and they just now wrote back saying, "... at this time, I suspect that there are no stores in your area that have access to this flavor this year. I am sorry – I wish that I had better news for you." Oh well, the search continues.

It might not be exactly the same but would Ben and Jerry's Cinnamon Bun Ice Cream work?

          2. Bassett's lists cinnamon ice cream as one of it's available flavors - I know you want Chester County but they list the places that carry their pints on their web site - including places in Chester Co, so perhaps that's a possibility.

Bassett's has really good cinnamon ice cream, and they also serve pumpkin this time of year too. If you can handle shlepping up to Reading Terminal Market, they have pints of each and lots of dry ice!

It looks like Janssen's in Greenville might have it. If not, there's a place down in Trolley Square that carries Bassett's. That's a lot closer than Philly.

That's a BIG help! I'll make a couple of phone calls. Thanks!

You're welcome. Hope you can find it!

              3. I know you said Chester County and it is more expensive than ice cream, but Capogiro makes an AWESOME cinnamon gelato. The other factor is that one of their locations has to be offering it on the day that you want it.

Capogiro let me down last Saturday...no bacio at either 13th or 20th st. The problem with them is that it would be like $10 or more a pint (if I remember correctly....)

Thanks for the tip. I never heard of this place but now in the words of Liz Lemon "I want to go to there."

                  2. With all the trouble you seem to be going through finding it, have you thought of buying an ice cream machine and making it? I make cinnamon ice cream around the holidays, it's not too hard and turns out fabulous. Also, nothing wows guests like homemade ice cream. Even when you spent 10x as long making dinner..

                      Buckethead,

That was my initial suggestion as well. Say what you will about any of the suggestions, including Bassetts, but there's nothing better than homemade ice cream

Besides, if you are making everything else, may as well make your dessert completely homemade as well.
