We are getting into Miami Airport around 7:30 p.m. Thursday night and are looking for someplace to stop for a light meal on the way to the hotel. Or, any suggestions for a restaurant near the hotel. By the time we get our luggage and rental car we probably won't get to the hotel until around 9 p.m. Thanks.

The Miami Design District is practically on your way out of the Miami airport. Follow the signs for SR 112 and instead of getting on I-95 (which will take you north to FTL), keep going and it's literally just a few blocks past at the Miami Avenue exit.

There you have several choices of some of the best restaurants in Miami: Michael's Genuine Food & Drink, Sra. Martinez, Pacific Time; also Fratelli Lyon, Pizzavolante, the newly opened Mai Tardi (haven't been); a little further down the street, Buena Vista Bistro.

Several have menus featuring small plates good for a lighter meal (MGF&D, Sra. M and Pacific Time in particular); only caution is that for MGF&D and Sra. M especially you will likely need reservations.
