A place that I like is the Gateway Grill in Monroeville. It's got a nice selection of drafts, the prices are reasonable and they seem to get a nice crowd and is family friendly.

The first place that comes to mind is D's Six Packs and Dogs - there's one in the city in Regent Square and one in Monroeville. Definitely meets your criteria!

Kazansky's in Squirrel Hill tends to have good beer, is reasonably cheap, has decent sandwiches, and I recall a co-worker mentioned their kids were happy to go there.

Mad Mex gets good and bad reviews on here, but they have a very nice draft selection and it's half off M-F 5-7. I go here often with friends that have a 4 year old and 5 month old.

Concur. We go to Mad Mex b/c it is kid friendly, has a good beer/margarita selection, and has some good food. D's is also a fun place with kids, particularly if there is a sporting event on.
