Steamboat Springs, Colorado - casual dinner restaurant recs?

Heyteacher Oct 18, 2009 08:58 PM

My husband, our dog and I will be up in Steamboat at a cabin for an extended weekend coming up. Since we will have our dog with us, we won't be able to dine in anywhere but recs for take out, tasty, casual dinner fare would be fabulous! Thanks so much!

This may not fit your need, but I have to mention Freshies, a homey and comfortable Steamboat Springs cafe that serves breakfast and lunch. (More details and menu at: http://www.skitownrestaurants.com/ste... ) I've had breakfast there several times, and it's an outstanding meal -- I would expect lunch to be just as good. Excellent toast and chili cheese grits, top-quality bacon, flavorful coffee, ... all served by a thoughtful and competent staff. I've been to Freshies each of the past two summers, and something about the place really strikes a chord with me.

Winona's right downtown serves breakfast and lunch. Nearby is Backcountry Provisions, which does dynamite sandwiches. Mazzola's, Cugino's and the Steamboat Springs outpost of BeauJo's make pizza -- eat-in or take-out. If you like BBQ, there's the Steamboat Smokehouse and (I think) another BBQ place in town.
