lunch halfway between LA & San Diego?

I live in LA, and a friend of mine is visiting San Diego, and we want to meet halfway between there and LA for some lunch - doesn't have to be fancy, just good! (On the beach would be nice - ie a fish taco shack - if its awesome)

On the map, halfway looks to be somewhere around Laguna Niguel, or San Clemente - any suggestions?

My vote would be Toms Farms, off the 15 (right by Temecula). Might be a bit closer to SD, though. Farm fresh veggies and fruits, Boars Head meats, a huge candy shop, and a cute park like area to eat. Sandwiches, pizza and the like.

I like Toms Farms -- they had a place in west Anaheim until about six months ago -- but Temecula isn't remotely on the way from LA to San Diego.

I concur about Break of Dawn. Awesome fish taco shacks other than Rubio's and Wahoo's are a little hard to come by in South OC (though I would love to be proved wrong).

Just a little north of there and you could have some great Chinese food in Irvine.

I think if you took the inland route (10E to 15S) it is on the LA/SD route. But, yes, the OP does seem to want coastal. Just another option :)

In San Clemente, there's a great Italian joint called Sonny's. It's a neighborhood pizza and pasta place that we often visit while going between San Diego and Los Angeles.
