(Hou) Clear Lake / Nasa Area recommendations

I see several reviews for restaurants in the Clear Lake / Nasa area that sound delicious but look like many haven't re-opened due to Ike's damage.

So, what has re-opened that is worth visiting?

I'm looking for recs for lunch and dinner spots.

For a quick breakfast, I found a local donut shop that makes great croissant sandwiches. Owner's name is Mel but the name of the shop is escaping me. I think it is on Bay Area Blvd. Does anyone remember the name?

Thanks :)

  1. Ashley's Donuts is real good, on Bay Area Blvd. I love their beignets and their apple fritters. I don't know anything that is still closed from Ike. Babin's has been bought by Landry's and is not worth the time and money anymore.

I've read that about Babin's in some of the other posts. Too bad.

I'll have to check out Ashley's donuts. I bet we could make some time for beignets! I hope that the time will be compatible with my schedule. I love beignets but later in the day. Such a sugar rush!

Tookies never re-opened, riight? That was my staple in dining when I'd go down there.

I have heard that about Tookie's. Use this link to contact the Seabrook Tourism office to see if there has been any change.

That's really a shame. I loved the squealer which had ground bacon cooked inside the burger patty.

Ashley Donuts is very good, never had anything there that wasn't really good. Shipley's is also very good and there are many of them.

Tommy's Patio Cafe on Bay Area Blvd used to be really good. I haven't been there in a long time. I loved their gumbo.
