Looking for a Thursday Lunch Recommendation - Civic Center/Union Square-ish?

I'm going to be visiting San Francisco next week for work and would like to plan a group lunch after a meeting next Thursday morning. Our meeting is near Civic Center Plaza and we're staying at the Parc 55 Hotel near Union Square/San Francisco Center - but we'll probably be taking taxis anyway, so anywhere in the general area would be fine. There will be 10 people and there is no fixed $ limit, although anything too extravagant would be frowned upon. Would One Market be good? If anyone has other suggestions, I would love to know! TIA!

I say call ahead to Saigon Sandwich (415) 474-5698, place an order for 5 chickens, 5 porks and maybe a tofu for any vegetarians, maybe not... taxi on over for the pick-up, reserve a balcony view at the hotel strictly for drinks and call it a day.

In the Civic Center area, Zuni, Hayes Street Grill, and Absinthe are all good lunch destinations...but it might be more fun to go to Heaven's Dog [adjacent to the the SOMA Grand on Mission btwn 7th and 8th]...this is a Charles Pham restaurant, as is Slanted Door...

For our party of about ten, the restaurant put us in a separate room at the back that allowed us to talk and be ourselves...the room is glassed in so that you can see the goings on the restaurant and bar, but have some privacy...we ordered from the regular lunch menu...the food is very good, and the service--if a little spotty--was friendly and helpful...reasonably priced...

For parties of 7 or more at the Slanted Door you need to do the prix fixe menu, which is $38 a person. If that works for your group, you could call them, but it may be late to get a reservation for 10 there. I've had good group meals at Kokkari, they have some big round tables, which are a nice change from the long ones. You could also call Zuni, which won't be far from your meeting, and has great food.

One Market is fine, but not great. If you want the outdoor dining SF experience, try Market Bar in the Ferry Building. Similar food, but you'll feel less like you're at a corporate lunch. Alternatively, Slanted Door is very popular and has a fantastic view of the Bay. All three have similar price points, spendy but not scary.

The new Hubert Keller Burger Bar just opened today, I think.
It's on Union Square at 251 Geary.
While you can get crazy and spend big $ on extras like truffles, kobe beef and such, the basic burgers are pretty reasonable.
