Weekend in Portland, Maine [moved from Quebec board]
I was in Portland Maine last weekend.
3pm snack at Susan's Fish and Chips - I had the lobster roll (8/10) and my friend had the fish&chips. Sweet potato fries are ok.
6pm choir group dinner in the basement of Grace, a restaurant in an old church. It's a 3-course meal for $42 with 3 to 5 choices for each. I would rate it under Decca77 because it was more expensive.
Breakfast at the Pepper Club - 2 poached egg on whole wheat english muffin and spinach and goat cheese, simple and good. Their lunch/dinner menu had very interesting vegetarian choices.
Breakfast #2 at Two Fat Cats bakery - the local chocolate "whoppie pie" + cupcakes to go. I came back the next morning as we were leaving town to get cookies. The chocolate chip was so-so but the oatmeal raisin was to die for (buttery goodness).
Lunch to go at Fat Duck - duck confit panini with sour cherry compote and fries (fried in duck fat of course).
For dinner most people ate at Grace again (they opened specially for us) but I went with a local to Corner Room, a small italian joint nearby. Best gnocci (romana) and fettucine (alfredo with crab meat) ever. PS: I don't eat out Italian often)
Next time I'll try to go to Hugo's, Bresca or Fore St.
