Diner in Wells, ME

Has anyone ever tried The Maine Diner in Wells?

We've eaten there perhaps four or five times, usually for dinner. There is usually a wait. On one of our last two visits our lobster pie came with burnt crumbs on top and rather over-cooked, chewy lobster meat; on the other, our fried clams and seafood platters came out soggy and cool. Frankly, we prefer Billy's Chowder house on Mile Road for good, reasonably priced seafood in that area.

It's far from a classic diner, but enjoyable. We much prefer breakfast there vs. lunch / dinner (would consider elsewhere), especially for their excellent blueberry pancakes with real maple syrup.

Yes. Some people truly love it beyond anything else. Others, like me, find it adequate but generally not worth the effort and wait it takes to eat there.

It's not a BAD diner, it's just overrated, IMO. I'd rather eat at some other places in the area. :)

I just had lunch at the Maine Diner. Lobster Pie was excellent, service quick, friendly, efficient.
