Restaurant near New World Stages on 50th Street
Will be attending a play at the New World Stages and seeking a restaurant in the area for pre theatre dining. Any suggestions? We will be eating at Carmine's another evening so do not want Italian. But would welcome other suggestions.

Pam Real Thai is delicious and around the corner. Roberto Passon is on the corner and IMHO a million times better than Carmine's for italian, but if you are stuck on Carmine's for the other evening then I guess it would not be in the running.

prdct, thanks for your honest opinion. We are not stuck on Carmine's. So we are very open to Roberto Passon and we will definitely look into Pam Real Thai. We have never been led astray on Chowhound.

I did Pam Real with my parents recently when they were in town for a pre-theater meal. It can get a bit crowded and noisy, but food is good and fast.

Carmine's is bad. Don't go there. Passon is not bad, as the others said, and I also like Pam's Real Thai. I've been finding Wondee Siam, west side of 9th between 52nd and 53rd, even better if I stick to the "Secret Thai" menu and tell them to make everything really spicy and Thai style, but Pam's is quality. If you want Afghan food, Ariana right across the street from Wondee is good - particularly the lamb kebabs, aushak, pumpkin curry, and aush.
