Central Long Beach on Friday night?

I'm headed over to central Long Beach to see an visiting relative for dinner on Friday night. I live in Glendale, and work mid-Wilshire, and never, never find myself over Long Beach way!

The relative is staying around Long Beach Boulevard and PCH, close to the Convention Center. I would love any and all recommendations--relative is 20 or 21, but as long as we go to a restaurant, that should be fine.

This is relative's first trip to CA (and ugh! I think she's trapped in a hotel or Convention Center for all of it!) so bonus points for any pointers to a pedestrian friendly area.

I've thought about picking her up, and taking her to 3rd Street Promenade, but if I'd like to avoid extra driving times!

    1. Take her to nearby 2nd St., Belmont Shores for a similar experiance to the 3rd St. Promenade.

        1. The LB Convention Center is at Long Beach blvd and Ocean. That is Downtown Long Beach. This is a relatively safe neighborhood to walk around looking for restaurants. But as JAB has said Belmont shore will work as well.
