Last minute trip to Miami Beach tonite--need recs fast!
I live on the Treasure Coast, and a friend just called (three minutes ago) and asked me to accompany her to a reception for a book publishing event on Miami Beach tonight.
With the possibility of eating one meal in the Miami Beach area only every few years, I can't pass up an opportunity to look for something amazing for us to eat before the reception.
If you were in my shoes, where would you eat? This is a celebratory event: first time she's been published in a significant architectural book.
Thanks, everyone!

So we ate at Michael's Genuine in the Design District. Thanks drtodd for the excellent recommendation. Everything was very good. We were early and ate at the bar. The coctails were fantastic. Manhattan with rosemary infused cherry--almost meaty. But in a good way.
The duck confit was heaven--whipped cauliflower acted as a ethereal mashed potato to balance the rich , flavorful duck.
My friend loved the wood-grilled octopus.
Wonderful.
