Bof Med Log at Scandia
Is anyone else old enough to remember bof med log (a beef and onion casserole) at Scandia restaurant? I don't know whether it was Danish (as was Ken Hansen who owned the restaurant) or otherwise Scandinavian, but I would love to find a place that served it now, or a recipe.
According to Scandia's menu = "Tenderloin steak with onions fried in butter" (hard to read):
If your really desperate you can find a version "if" you're willing to drive to Solvang, 2 1/2 hours from L.A. for "HAKKEBOF MED LOG" (page 3):
A little closer in Santa Barbara, Anderson's in theory could (?) make something similar off menu:
I don't know it from Scandia, but bøf med løg is Danish for "steak with onions" and usually refers to a beefsteak smothered in a sauce made principally of onions that have been softened in butter. I hope that will help other 'Hounds find the dish for you, because I can't picture it anywhere.
