Lobster in DC?

h

Where can I go to get lobster - steamed, grilled, in a lobster roll, you name it. I do love the lobster burger at Central, but I'm looking for something else to try. I'm willing to drive around, but not more than 30-40 minutes from Northwest DC. Thanks!!!

The lobster roll at Hank's Oyster Bar is great....reminds me of the rolls I use to get back in Boston growing up.

You can also get a good one at Legal's Seafood...their crab roll is also very good.

Many Cantonese restaurants are doing lobster specials - stir fried with ginger and scallions for $15? XO Taste, Fortune, Mark's, Miu Kee all do this dish.

New Kam Fong is having a 2 lobster for $23.95 special. Have not had it but their seafood is generally good.

I had the lobster roll at Zola a long time ago, and it was delicious, although a little small. So glad you asked about this -- I've been wanting lobster as well, but I've been looking for dishes lke lobster thermidor, newburg, or fra diavolo rather than whole lobsters or lobster roll. I'm thinking that looking at the menus of steak houses might be the way to go, but I'd love to hear any suggestions!

Clyde's is running a lobster special this month. Very reasonable price and good quality. I just had one at the Tysons branch so you might look into the special @ Gallery Place Clydes (or the Ebbett).

Wong Gee Asian or New Kam Fong? Just noticed in today's Gazette that Wong Gee Asian has the same special as New Kam Fong. Other specialities (noodle dishes and barbecue) seem to be similar. Any reports on Wong Gee Asian as compared to New Kam Fong? Thanks

The Clyde's special is a 1.25 pounder for, I think, $18.95. It's well cooked and nicely presented. You can get a second one, without the fixings, for $14.95. Btw, when I was at HMart recently, a voice came on the loudspeaker saying they were having a lobster special for $4.99 for the next ten minutes. The announcement was in Korean, but luckily I had my interpreter with me. For the half hour or so I was there the 10 minute deal was repeated twice. It reminds me of the old days when poor kids in Maine were the ones who brought lobster sandwiches to school.

Ten Penh has a lobster dish that is their signature dish. Also, at Corduroy this week, their appetizer special was a lobster carpaccio.

I've had the lobster carpaccio appetizer at Corduroy before and it's fantastic. I think I originally descriped it on Chowhound as "the essence of lobster."

Occidental usually has lobster bisque, which is REALLY good. Their menu rotates, so they may not have it always.
