Coffee shop/Tea House in West Hollywood?

I'm looking for a cute, comfortable spot to grab coffee or tea in West Hollywood. I know good places on the west side and in Silverlake, but it has to be in WeHo. I'm trying to avoid chains: Starbucks, Peets, or Coffee Bean. And nothing to "sceney" like Urth Cafe... Any suggestions?

  1. I'm a fan of Kaffe Wein on Melrose directly adjacent to the Pacific Design Center just a bit east of San Vicente.

It's small, comfortable, clean, and very friendly. They have wifi and daily papers hanging on those wooden stick readers. Most of the staff has been there for quite some time, so it's great to see friendly familiar faces when you go in.

They have pastries and muffins (many of which are baked in house every morning), and also pre-made salads and sandwiches in a glass case.

Inside there is a nice couch or two and some tables, and outside a few tables with umbrellas and a water bowl for a dog.

    Hope that helps!

Edit- Tried to include the link but it didn't show up in the final post. Anyhow, here is the info:

    Kaffe Wien
    8629 Melrose Ave
    West Hollywood, CA 90069

    1. Oh yes--I second Kaffee Wein. The baked goods they don't bake are also very good (maybe from Rockenwagner?) and they have a frequent buyer program. If you have your coffee there, at one of their little tables, they will serve it to you with a glass of water (and needless to say, in a cup with a saucer). It is also always quiet enough for a conversation.

      1. La Conversation on Doheny just north of Santa Monica. It's a scene on weekends during brunch, but is quite laid back and pleasant at other time.
