  1. Cipriani

    1. From what I've read, the food at Cipriani is awful. And it's very expensive.

We just had lunch for the first time at La Fonda del Sol, in the MetLife Bldg. The entrance is on Vanderbilt & 44th, just down the block from Grand Central. The food is superb, and the dining room is very attractive and comfortable. Prices are quite moderate for food of such high quality. Since it was Columbus Day, it wasn't very busy. But our server told us they normally get a big business lunch crowd. I think it would be perfect for a client lunch.

I'm with RGR on this Cipriani is just awful foodwise and horribly overpriced to boot. It is however a place to see and be seen. I haven't been to La Fonda, but work in the area and can vouch for the fact that it is indeed packed at lunch.

      2. pera, re sette, any of the spots in grand central...the oyster bar could be a cool experience for an out of towner
