I'm celebrating my 30th Birthday in NYC with my sister. We love food and we love hip, funky restaurants and lounges. I know there are millions of them, but if anyone can suggest something specific were we can enjoy a great meal and then stay afterward for drinks, somewhere special that lends itself to a 30th Birthday - greatly appreciated.

as you said, there are millions so can you be a little more specific as far as cuisine, location, scene (trendy, laid back, classy, etc), budget?

There is no particular area, will travel for good food and great atmosphere. Italian is great, bistro fare, American cuisine. Nothing too expensive or stuffy, something really trendy would be great fun.

Ideally we are looking for somewhere relaxed enough that we can have dinner and then stay for drinks.

THANK YOU.

I would suggest STK in the meatpacking district. We were there last weekend for a bachelorette party (I'm 31, so I'm not talking about a cheesy event) - it was beautiful, the food was great (the wagyu sliders, seriously, were to die for) - wine list & cocktails were great, and if you go late enough (we went at 8:45), it was the last seating for our table so we had a table once it turned into a "club".....it was tons of fun with great music & people eventually started dancing...I would definitely recommend.
