I'm looking for a good place for a birthday dinner (this Thursday, so somewhere that will accept late notice reservations), and being a Vegetarian and heavy foodie, I'm looking for a unique dining experience with about six to seven friends. I prefer French Cuisine and something that wouldn't run up the bill above around 300-400$ for the six or seven of us.

Anyone know something (preferably around the San Fernando Valley) that sounds like it would work for me?

Thanks in advance!

French doesn't go too well with Vegetarian, I've found. Bistro Provence in Burbank would be one place to consider, they do a very nice risotto.

Thanks! You really think so? I've found French cuisine works out most for me.

Really though, I'm fine with mostly everything. Contemporary American is great too.

i agree with you that French doesn't go well with vegetarian unless one is able to 'overlook' the meat/poultry stock that is common in many french dishes (including, often, risotto).

And butter. And cream. And, oh wait, that's vegan. You're right tho, never met a French person who was vegetarian or vegan (but there must be some....right??)

Akasha in Culver City. They do good veggie.

I took one of my vegetarian girlfriends to XIV where they do both a vegetarian and vegan tasting menu. She told me she really enjoyed it. They're participating in DineLA so it might be in your price range, but maybe it might be tough to get a Thursday reservation.

Grace does some great vegetarian options... they have vegetarian tasting menus, but those will blow your budget.

In the valley though, CA DEL SOLE just might work very well for you...

Agree though that in the valley, Madeleine is a decent option, but I'm guessing you want a little more upscale than that.
