I've always wanted to eat at Hart's Turkey Farm. This might have been the year. I read the reviews on Tripadvisor and it seems like it attracts tons and tons of tourists - and reviews don't exactly rave about the food.

Is there another less-well-known place where you can get good turkey dinners? I'm interested in the general location of southern VT or NH, western to central MA.

I've eaten at Hart's a few times at Thanksgiving over the last few years and it's fine. Wait until late rin the day though when the crowds become less. It's turkey, not gourmet food.

Trip Advisor is not very reliable, especilly about food. Try it yourself - it's a good turkey dinner, not fancy, but just fine.

If you've always wanted to eat at HTF, what's holding you back? They have turkey dinners in all sizes, and have other items like turkey pot pie, turkey livers and turkey croquettes. This is turkey mecca. Our waiter in the Manchester location was a riot, a big gay version of Mildred Pierce--perfect!

I have such nostalgic love for Harts - so even though it's not fantastic I still love it. We summered on the Lake and typically on rainy weekend days we would go to Harts. So it's a fond childhood memory. When we are in the area-we still will stop for lunch. And I still enjoy it. I personally think the food is decent. Like someone elsesaid-it's turkey.

I have been wanting to try the Manchester location ever since I heard about it-bit closer to me.

I actually really liked the HTF in Manchester, They had friendly servers the food was great, and it was not packed full of leaf peepers and tourists. Just locals enjoying a good dinner.

I am not one to pass praise lightly, I am hugely critical when I am paying for food/service.

I recently tried the one in Meredith even tho 2 CH ers advised against. But, it was a rainy day and could not go hiking so we went for a drive and ended up here. There's everything on the menu, not just turkey. My friend and I shared a salad that would have fed 6 normal people, 3 hungry ones. Then shared a turkey dinner, all white meat. The stuffing and mashed potatoes were so-so but the white meat was moist and delicious and they make yeast rolls and corn bread from scratch. VERY reasonable.

Manchester VT caters more toward the New York/Berkshires crowd so you will probably find a french bistro or sushi, but not a turkey dinner. Last time I was there, the Armani outlet was having a great sale.
